My Space in the Web
Welcome
This page is the result of over ten years of traveling between Spain and Florida. Over the years I’ve got to known the state pretty well, as well as parts of neighboring states, such as Georgia or Alabama. Spanish sovereignty lasted longer in Florida than anywhere else in North America
My growing interest in the history of the Spanish presence in the United States, which also represents the beautifully preserved city of St Augustine, encouraged me to accept proposal of my friend, the writer Fernando Martinez Lainez, and write a book together about general Spanish footprint in North America, from Florida to Alaska. The result was «Banderas Lejanas» —Distant Flags—, a work that has been disseminated fairly well Spain, but unfortunately does not have an edited version in English.
My forthcoming on the presence in the United States book will be released soon in English and Spanish. Titled Forgotten Companies. Spanish units in the American Civil War (1861-1865), it deals with Spanish troops in «ethnic» units on both sides.
This website will also reveal some of my hobbies, such as painting miniatures, and two small blogs about places to visit in Florida and Spanish traces there.
